Every counseling or coaching session is unique and focuses on your specific needs and goals. What is it that you want to be different in your life? What tools do you want to learn to help you live your best life? My agenda would be helping you learn how to become your own counselor or coach. I believe in helping you learn a wide variety of concrete, practical tools so you can make better decisions, set healthier boundaries with others, learn how to nurture, love and forgive yourself, deal with conflict in a healthier way, re-connect with a sense of spirituality if you desire, and learn how to create greater joy and happiness. During a session it is standard to talk about the primary issues and concerns in your life, and to work on learning and implementing new tools for more effectively dealing with them. Counseling can be short-term, focusing on a specific issue, or longer-term, addressing more complex issues. Counseling often includes taking a look at things from your past that may be having an impact on current behavior or thought patterns. Coaching is primarily focused on ongoing personal growth and helping you implement change for your future. There may be times when you will be encouraged to take certain actions outside of a session, such as reading a relevant book or keeping records to track certain behaviors. Counseling and coaching are most effective when you are an active participant, both during and between the sessions.
